The City of Cottage Grove

I am a strategist for Allen Hall Advertising on The City of Cottage Grove account.
From September to December of 2015 we developed two campaigns for Cottage Grove, one for their Halloween event, Main Street Trick-Or-Treat, and another for Christmas in Cottage Grove.

Main Street Trick-Or-Treat

Situation: Promote the City of Cottage Grove's annual Halloween event, Main Street Trick-Or-Treat.

Challenge: Main Street Trick-Or-Treat was held on Friday, October 30th during work hours. How do we encourage families to come during inconvenient hours?

Approach: Conventional neighborhood trick-or-treating has become expected, tiresome, and unsafe. Main Street Trick-Or-Treat is safe for kids, enjoyable for parents.

On the day of the event, we held a multi-clue scavenger hunt that sent attendees around Cottage Grove's historic sights. At each clue, participants received a colored page with one of the characters.

In the week leading up to Main Street Trick-Or-Treat our animated video received 2.5k views.

Cottage Grove Christmas

Situation: Create a flyer explaining the event details for Cottage Grove Christmas, Cottage Grove's annual holiday celebration.

Challenge: Make the flyer informative, compelling, and inexpensive - in 2 weeks.

Approach: We gained inspiration for our flyer from the Christmas Feeling- the anticipation that builds leading up until Christmas Day-  and created the best personification of that feeling, an advent calendar.

Creative Execution

We created an open-face advent calendar to be handed out the day of Cottage Grove Christmas with names and details of events around the city.

On the back was a illustrated map of Cottage Grove to give residents of the city and surrounding areas a clear explanation of where all events were located.
